Description: Vintage stylish silver plated buckle. Manufactured in France by Piel Freres. The central design depicts a man with a large nose who I believe is Cyrano de Bergerac in elizabethan style of dress. It was designed by Felix Rasumny who studied at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs and was pupil to Millet, Gauthier and Tasset. From 1889 Rasumny exhibited regularly at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Francais, he received an honorable mention in 1891 and a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. He became a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1911 and was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1933. The buckle has the Piel Freres stamp on the reverse and F Rasumny to the edge of the medallion next to the hat.
